Detailed information about the project

Innovation in our project

RiceID is expected to establish, on scientific experimental data, an innovative methodology for checking the geographical origin and certifying the authenticity of the rice produced in the area of Chalastra. This new methodology differs from the previous attempts to solve the above problem, which were either incomplete (genetic identification of the variety with molecular markers without the possibility of checking the geographical origin) or insufficient and ineffective (marketing invoices, product circulation documents, etc.).

A process of authenticity control and certification of geographical origin is therefore created for the first time in which the analysis methodology, the critical stages and the chemometric method of analyzing the results for the product in question are described in detail. At the same time, the possibility and conditions are provided under which the adoption of the above procedure can lead to the acquisition of a trademark which, placed on the packaging, will certify the authenticity of the product, increasing its added value and competitiveness.
